QUIT (“QUIT”, “we”, “us”) is an app for adults who want to quit porn. It’s made by Obscura Vertex Pte. Ltd., a company registered in Singapore. This policy explains what the QUIT app and QuitPornBlocker.com collect, why, and what you can do about it. We’ve tried to write it plainly.

The short version. The porn blocker works on your phone: we never receive your browsing history, and nobody is told which sites were blocked. You can start without a name or email. Your fox coach reads your journal and moods to help you; they aren’t shown to anyone else, sold, or used to train AI. We don’t show ads and we don’t sell data.

1. What we collect and why

Your account

When you open QUIT, an anonymous account is created automatically, with a random ID. You don’t need to give a name or email. If you choose “Save my progress”, we store your email address so we can send you sign-in codes and restore your progress on a new phone.

Your profile and progress

Your nickname, avatar and outfit, Embers balance and items, the date your current streak started, your total clean days, daily check-ins, the relapses you log, milestones reached and lessons completed. We use these to run the app: your streak, your island, your wardrobe and your lessons.

Your onboarding answers, journal and moods

The answers you give when you start (for example how often you watched and your reasons for quitting), your journal entries and your daily moods. They’re kept on your phone and backed up to your account so you don’t lose them. They personalise your plan, the Panic screen (which shows your own reasons) and your fox coach.

Your fox coach (AI)

When you message the coach, we send your message, together with context about your progress (such as your streak, relapse patterns, your onboarding answers and recent journal entries and moods), to our AI provider, Anthropic, to write a reply. Anthropic processes this on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. We store the conversation so it continues where you left off; you can clear it at any time from the coach screen. The coach isn’t a therapist. If a message suggests you may be in danger, it will point you to crisis support.

The shield (porn blocker)

The shield uses Android’s VPN feature, but only on your phone and only for website look-ups (DNS). When an app or browser looks up a site, QUIT checks the name on your device against its blocklist:

• Adult sites are blocked on your phone. The names of blocked sites are never sent to us or to anyone else.
• Other look-ups are forwarded to Cloudflare’s family-safe DNS resolver (1.1.1.3) to get the site’s address, like any ordinary DNS query. Cloudflare is an independent DNS provider; its resolver privacy policy applies to those queries.
• Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and YouTube are pointed to their SafeSearch services.
• Your web traffic itself is not routed through QUIT or our servers.

To tell you (and, if you choose, your partner) when protection weakens, the app also sends a few status signals from your phone to our servers, linked to a device key that we store only in hashed form:

• a check-in about every 10 minutes saying whether the shield is on, so we can notice if it goes quiet;
• that the shield was switched off outside the app, that “Always-on VPN” was turned off, or that Private DNS was switched on (with its setting name);
• the name of a newly installed app that can route around the shield (for example a VPN app). To spot these, QUIT checks the apps on your phone for a VPN component. The list of your apps is not sent to us.
• a count of how many sites were blocked (a number only).

Deep Shield (optional, when available)

Deep Shield is an optional extra layer that you switch on yourself in Android’s Accessibility settings, after an explanation screen. It reads only the address bar of supported web browsers (the address, or what you type there to search) and checks it on your phone. What you browse or search is never stored or sent. If Deep Shield is switched off, the app notes that it happened.

Your accountability partner (optional)

If you invite a partner, they can see your streak, check-ins, milestones, how many sites were blocked (never which), requests to turn protection off, and, if you leave “Tell my partner if my shield changes” on, the shield status events above. They never see your browsing, messages, journal, moods or coach conversations. You can stop sharing at any time; your partner is told, and sees nothing from after that.

The Village

In the Village, other players see your nickname, avatar and outfit, and where you are on the map. Messages you post in the Village and Tavern, and stories you share in the Hall of Stories, are visible to other players. They pass through a safety filter, and you can report or block people. Reports are reviewed to keep the community safe.

Subscriptions

Payments are handled by Google Play (and, later, the App Store). We receive whether your subscription is active, not your payment details.

The website and waitlist

If you join the early-access list on QuitPornBlocker.com, we store your email, the phone you chose (Android or iPhone), your browser language and which form you used, to tell you when QUIT launches. The website doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs.

If you email us, we keep the conversation to help you.

2. What we don’t do

• We don’t sell your data or share it for advertising.
• We don’t show ads in QUIT.
• We don’t receive your browsing history, and we don’t tell anyone which sites you visited or were blocked.
• We don’t use your journal, moods or conversations to train AI models.

3. Who processes your data

Some of these providers are outside your country. Where that happens, we rely on their contractual safeguards for international transfers.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account exists. Coach conversations are kept until you clear them or delete your account. Shield status check-ins are kept only as long as needed to notice a gap. Waitlist emails are kept until launch and up to 12 months after, unless you ask us to remove yours sooner. When you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something (for example records of purchases).

5. Your choices and rights

• Delete your account: see Delete your account.
• See, correct or export your data: email us and we’ll respond within 30 days.
• Stop sharing with a partner or turn off shield alerts to them at any time in the app.
• Clear your coach chat from the coach screen.

Depending on where you live (for example under Singapore’s PDPA or the EU/UK GDPR), you may have further rights, including to object or complain to your data protection authority.

6. Age

QUIT is for adults aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a minor is using QUIT, please tell us and we’ll delete the account.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted by per-user rules in our database, and device keys are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.

8. Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
