Your next milestones
Where you are
What people commonly report in recovery communities. These are personal accounts, not research findings, and your experience may differ.
What to expect along the way
Everyone’s path is different, but some patterns come up again and again in recovery communities. Treat these as common experiences, not promises.
Days 1 to 7: the loudest week
Urges tend to be frequent and strong, and they cluster around old habits: in bed, late at night, alone with your phone. Plan for the first night before it arrives, and make porn harder to reach. Here’s how to block it on Android.
Days 8 to 30: fewer urges, sharper spikes
Many people find urges come less often but can spike hard with stress, boredom or a bad day. Some report low libido or flat mood, often called the “flatline”. It’s an anecdotal idea rather than a researched one, and it isn’t a sign anything is wrong.
Days 31 to 90: building a new normal
New routines start to feel like yours. The biggest risk here is often a single slip turning into a binge. If you slip, stop at one: a slip is information, not a verdict.
Days 91 to 365: the quiet middle
Urges are usually rarer and easier to ride out. Complacency becomes the risk, so keep the blocker on and the plan in place, even when it feels unnecessary.
A year and beyond
Most people describe this as maintenance: the occasional urge in a hard week, handled with skills you’ve already practised. The 10-minute urge plan still works.
Questions people ask
How do I count my NoFap streak?
Count the full days since your last slip. If you last slipped on the evening of 1 March, 2 March is day 1. This calculator counts calendar days in your own time zone.
Does a slip reset everything?
Your streak restarts, but the clean days you built still happened and still count. In the QUIT app, your total clean days are kept when a streak resets, so one bad night doesn’t erase months of work.
What is the NoFap flatline?
Flatline is a term from recovery communities for a stretch of low libido and low mood some people report in the first weeks. It is based on personal reports, not research, and many people never notice one.
How long does it take to quit porn?
There is no fixed number. Most people find urges come less often after the first few weeks, but stress can bring them back at any point. Building habits for the hard moments matters more than reaching a magic number.
